To be honest, the beginning of 2017 seems like so long ago, and if you think about it, it really has. Twelve months is a long time. I found it strange, though – the past couple of years, I’ve thought the year had flown by.

For me, 2017 was a year of discoveries. I ended a chapter my life, finally managing to pick myself up after the many, many falls from the past few years, and begun a new one, which promises many wonderful moments and memories. I had to chance to visit new places and meet new people and try new things, and as I watched the world go by, driving home from my last day of school this year, I realised just how much my mental state has improved over the past twelve months, and that made me really happy. (Yes, I know it sounds cheesy.)

I know that 2017 wasn’t the best for everyone. A lot of terrible things happened around the world, and a lot of people suffered because of that, and I hope with all my heart that 2018 will be better for those people. The thing is, however, that no year can be without it’s faults. There’s always going to be bad that comes with the good, and it’s imporant that at the end of it all, whilst we shouldn’t forget the bad, we also shouldn’t forget the good, whether it be something personal or something that effects many.

So, on this final day of 2017, I thought I’d share some photos I took this year and some of the stories behind them. Here we go!

Visiting the Torres Straits

Something that I was incredibly lucky to do this year was spend over a week in the Torres Strait Islands. It was a wonderful place and such an amazing experience. I’d love to go back someday.  🙂

The Blue Mountains

I’ve been to the Blue Mountains before with my family, but we decided to go back and check out some new things this year.

Conventions

One of my favourite things about this year were the various trips to Sydney with friends, especially to go to conventions! As a massive nerd, it’s something I look forward to every year.

This year, I also decided to try some new things, such as making YouTube videos and writing more poetry, both of which have been a lot of fun and which I’ll hopefully continue in 2018.

Finally, I’d like to thank all of you, for following my journey this year through my posts, stories and poetry. I know I’ve certainly enjoyed writing them, so I hope you’ve enjoyed reading them, too.  😉

Until next year,
