Yes, the We The Pixies demo has indeed had a massive update in the past few days, adding a ton of new stuff:
Not only can you now create a fairy, but you can also fly around Dewdrop Vale, collect ingredients and visit Brook’s Basics!
You can try out the demo for yourself here: http://wethepixies.herokuapp.com/
Let’s have a look at some of the new features, shall we?
Instead of being sent to the Bubble Bounce mini-game when you click on the demo link, you’re now sent to a page with this message:
Once you click play, the demo begins by showing the WTP logo before jumping into the familiar cut scene with Queen Clarion’s speech.
WTP has also decided to use the original version of create a fairy, which was a huge wave of nostalgia for me! This means that players have more choices when it comes to customization than they would with the version that was introduced to the original Hollow after the first Tinkerbell movie came out.
Of course I wanted to recreate Rose, so I chose to be a Water Talent. 😛
At the moment, there are only a handful of hairstyles and outfits to choose from, but more will be added over time! Here’s Rose’s finished look:
Once your fairy is created (sparrow men will be added at a later stage), you’re taken to Dewdrop Vale, just as you would in the original. The game isn’t multiplayer quite yet, so it’ll just be your fairy flying around by their self for the time being!
Not only can you fly around the meadow, but you can also collect ingredients and view them in your pouch. 😀
Like I mentioned earlier, Brook’s Basics is also accessible – if you click on Brook, you can look at the catalogue and try on some tops. 🙂
The shop is a little buggy at the moment – I’ve found that on a few occasions, the game has gotten stuck loading, which will mean that unfortunately you’ll have to refresh the page and start the demo again. I discovered that a pretty safe way to avoid this is to visit Brook’s Basics before doing anything else in Dewdrop Vale. Another thing that can sometimes happen when you enter the shop the appearance of ‘evil twin mimes’, but they don’t effect anything else whilst you’re shopping. 😉
Of course, the WTP is working on fixing these bugs, and if you do happen to experience any problems, you can click on the ‘Report a Problem’ option in the top right corner (as seen in the picture above). A new tab will open with a form for you to fill out in regards to the bug:
Once you’ve submitted the form, it will be sent to the WTP team for them to review. If you’re part of the WTP Discord, you can also report problems in the bug_reports channel. 🙂
Like in previous versions of the demo, you can still play the Bubble Bounce mini-game, you now you can collect your rewards at the end and add them to your pouch. I’ve been trying to get a perfect score – I haven’t succeeded so far, but I’m determined to do it! 😛
Unfortunately you can’t save fairies just yet, but you can replay the demo as may times as you wish, and if you’d like to become more involved with the WTP community, you can join the official Discord! Not only will you be one of the first to find out when new updates are released, but you can also chat with fellow fairies, share your feedback and ideas on the game so far, and much more!
Joining is completely free, and you can do so by using this link: https://discord.gg/TSJTvCD
If you’re unfamiliar with Discord, you can also check out Marigold’s WTP – Getting Started Post for a thorough tutorial on how it all works. Here’s the link: https://marigoldsunjewel.wordpress.com/2019/09/21/wtp-getting-started/
Anyway, I hope you all are having a wonderful day! 🙂
Until next time,
– Rose ❤
